Beginnings

Beginnings and Establishments:

Mr. John Baldwin, having educated himself by working as a janitor and by chopping wood, made education his mission. He founded the Baldwin Institute in New York in 1845 and the Baldwin High School in 1982.

The Baldwin School for girls was established in 1903 and continues to provide quality education to girls in Bangalore. By the year 1990 the need was felt for good post-schooling education for women and the PUC section started. This was expanded with the addition of the degree section in 1995.

Motto and Ideals:

The motto of the College is “Loyalty and Service”. In keeping with the ideals of Christian teaching, the college aims at instilling in its students faith in God, service-mindedness, and dedication to human development. The college since its inception has directed to human development. It aspires to create in every student, a woman capable of encountering the challenging realities of the present day context. Her role in today's society as co-worker in nation building activities is inculcated by a range of educational, cultural and community based program. Ample opportunity is provided for the overall development of every student. The aim of the College is to create an environment wherein students shall cultivate a love for learning, respect for all life, tolerance for all religions and communities and thereby emerge with wholly developed personalities.
